Mac & iOS Apps + Arachnidigital

Just a quick post (while I’m in the mood) to mark the start of development for my first iPhone and Mac App. I know it’s not exactly a big announcement, but it marks the beginning of my movement to freelance design and development as a full time occupation.

Results of The Veg. Experiment

steak

It has been 14 days since my little vegetarian experiment. Some would say that’s really not long to make a decision, but based on the two reasons I am looking at it for – I think it is more than enough to see where I stand on the matter.

The Vegetarian Experiment

Over the summer I have been looking at a lot of different aspects of my life, with a fair amount of time looking specifically at logic. Why? Well, it is a known fact among my friends that I act very much on impulse – from buying a violin that I liked the look of (I don’t play) to signing up to marketing that plunges me into great debt; I act on instinct. So, I have been trying to act more logically, think about things and address the way I live.

Get Back into Running

Simple Health Boost

So it dawned on me today how unfit I am (not exactly a shock horror) – but I’ve got to get back into running.

It has three benefits, firstly it’s good for your health, secondly it is strangely fun and lastly, it wakes you up in a morning when combined with a coldish shower (due to the old house I live in)!

Now it has been some time since I last went running – so I turned to the internet for help and found this useful WikiHow Article:

http://www.wikihow.com/Begin-Running

The idea is you follow the 2 month training scheme running 3 times a week, increasing the intensity of the run as you go.

I should also say – make sure you are medically fit to run and have decent shoes (prevent injury) before trying this program.

I have also created a PDF (B&W) easy to read version which can be downloaded by clicking here.

Thought I would also just include 2 little jogging quotes:

“I don’t jog.  If I die I want to be sick.”  ~ Abe Lemmons

“The trouble with jogging is that the ice falls out of your glass.”  ~ Martin Mull

Quotes on Identity

So, I am in the middle of reading Logic, Inductive and Deductive by William Minto on my kindle and thought I would jot down some of the clippings I have made thus far on the subject of identity:

“A thing must other itself in order to be itself”

“An individual is the identity running through the totality of it’s attributes”

“An individual is identical with the totality of it’s predicates”

“An individual is the conflux of generalities”

There were only a few there, but I thought they we all pretty neat. Also, here is another quote (not exactly to do with identity), that I found while reading, and really like:

“Men generally deceive themselves before they deceive others”

I will update this post if there are any more that I come across (which I am sure I will). If there are any awesome quotes you think should be on here, contact me through twitter (or email me).
